Silly Malachi

So I recently (within the past few days) had thought that I would never see one of my cats again. It was miserable outside, it snowed about 2 feet...and I had no idea where Malachi (my cat) was. He left Monday night and had me scared sick for his safety. Snow...Sleet....Hail, we had it all. I am sure all the cat lovers can imagine what I went through. I tromped all over the neighbourhood...asking people if they had seen him....froze my butt off in the snow. When I thought all was lost my neighbour across the way said he saw him "hanging" out with 2 other cats...just galavanting around the side streets. I was so happy, but I wouldnt let myself believe it until I saw Tuesday passes by without a footprint near my door way...I could have sworn I had heard him late late that night...but when I got to the door he was not there. Wednesday morning rolls around and I am sick as a dog from worry...Greg calls and says he thought he saw him way down the street....again with 2 other cats....when he walked toward him he dashed away :( So I leap out of bed to get my things on to go and see if I could find him, when all of a sudden....Meow!! I ran to the door! There he was!! I was so relieved! I picked him up and bawled my face off hahaha! I called Greg right away, he had thought the worst when he heard me sobbing into the phone....."He came home!" I cried. So that is my story and I thought it would be cute to do a comic strip about how I was freaking out and he was off playing and sleeping over at his friends house. Click on the images to make them larger :)

Here is me and my Malachi :) Together again!

I have been drinking and decorating...which is as much fun as it sounds! haha I decided to take a couple pictures when the night time came, which of course is when the tree is at its best and the wine is flowing freely :) I had greg actually run out when I was at work one day to pick up these sweet bird ornaments I had seen at a friends house (there is one in the picture). They are truly beautiful on the tree.

I'm not sure if i'm the only one in the world that calls her mom a lot, but if I am.......get calling kids! So after I phoned my mom for the hundredth time that day...yesterday....she mentions to me that she is putting her art cards online to sell! I was thrilled because it gave me a wonderful excuse for me to promote her! it goes.....My Mom.
A lover of felines. A beautiful woman. A truly amazing artist who has come along way from stick man drawings....given she was 4yrs old....did I say an AMAZING mom?! Especially for letting me call her so many times a day! haha
Anyone who comes in contact with her art instantly falls in love with it. Moody and expressive, her art stands out from the rest whenever in a show. She lives in St. John's NFLD and belongs to a beautiful Gallery. Please check out her art cards at this link. Just a little hint too...I didnt want to part with mine that I ordered so I framed them!!! They are so Beautiful!

This is a painting I had worked on a year ago...and just picked it back up and finished it today. It is supposed to represent the earth on the back of a turtle. The story behind it comes from an old native tale depicting how the earth was formed. I used acrylic paint and also silver and gold ink pens. If you look closely at the sky you can see outlines of animals. I have done 4 others like this in the past and sold them right away. They are a lot of fun to paint and always bring a smile to peoples faces.

So while I am waiting to purchase new canvases, I am trying to be creative with my camera...lately I have taken pictures of the lazy Spots...and I have yet to find Malachi doing something outlandish. He is quite conservative and tends to just want to be outside where he can hunt mice, shrews and other little creatures. This picture was taken from my last apartment where Malachi had gotten a hold of my...well lets just call it...nightly wear....and I chased him around the house to try and pry it from his grasp...spots was a little in on it as well, however Malachi would hiss and spit at him as if he had caught a mouse or something....I could not believe how possessive he was of it! So I stopped chasing him and had to take a photo. Here he is hissing as Spots, making sure he is the sole owner of the...ahem...nightly wear.

Ok....seriously this is my cat for you...after he is done tearing my plants apart and getting into the garbage...he very nicely pushes the couch cushions down a little so he can have his own couch hammock...and there he will sit, sleep, or clean himself for the rest of the day...or until I move him and the cushion. I love him to death, but he is starting to think he owns the joint! Well...not that he didn't think that before. Also I have found him clung to either the inside of my wooden front door...or the outside screen door, either wanting in or out. I still have to get pictures of that one :) You really have to click on them to get the full effect of what this cat thinks of himself! haha!

I have done a Christmas craft show now for two years up in Barrie Ont. The people there are so sweet, and I love all the different crafts. Two years ago there was a booth there with these amazing little fairies, they were there this year as well. Just adorable! Mine sits in my kitchen window...I think though that I need to build up a fairie family, and get one for every room! They are the sweetest things!

Amazing Nutritous Pancakes!

I made some pancake mix yesterday for the kids and was thinking how great this mix was! least healthier than mix from a box...this recipe comes from partners mother.

Peho Pancakes

1/2 cup yogurt (plain)
2 small eggs
1tsp melted butter
Pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar
3/4 cup spelt flour
1/2 tsp B.S. and 1/2 tsp B.P.
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup chopped up oats.

Mix all together! Takes a minute longer in the pan, but worth the wait!!

Well the weekend has come to an end...the weather was a little bit against us...but also beautiful and very festive. I sold a few paintings which was very nice and made a few friends in the process. These shows are great! No matter what you end up selling...or not selling...there are so many opportunities for networking and creating new relationships. I strongly recommend an art show for any new artist. Look for things in your area....or not in your area... :) Check out venues like Art in the Park and Christmas Craft Shows.
This is my display booth

This was the weather on the second day.
Beautiful...but not great to go out and drive in.

Twas the night before craft show

So.....the night before going to Barrie for the Christmas craft show and I feel a bit like Martha Stewart on steroids! I have about 50 little button/ornaments to finish up and I still need to glaze my paintings! ahhh!! I of course freak out every time I have a show...only to find out everything turns out long as I don't get half way to Barrie and realize I forgot my art! Love to my family and friends who have been so supportive with my art! Wish me luck!
Here are some crazy pics from my studio/dining room.

Sipping on cocoa in my new special mug

Here are two cute 4"x4" paintings...the little cats are singing Christmas carols.
Left...still available

For my family in Newfoundland, this is a post of Andrews 20th Birthday! :)
I am wearing a hat because I have crazy artist hair right now.
It was a lot of fun! We had curry/honey/mustard chicken and of course a cake!

Stayed out to late...ate too many treats....

This is one that took a little extra time to make...I cut up a fake flower leaf to make multiple leaves for the painting...the cats are having a wonderful time oooo'ing and ahhh'ing at the leaves....what a wonderful day for a bicycle ride.

This is the beginning of a painting...4"x4"
This one is the end result...I thought it looked kinda neat next to my plate full of paints.

SOLD I picked up these little tiny canvases....which are the cutest little things!! Here they are in a lovely little basket...I have put eye hooks into the wood on top so they are easily hang-able...for christmas trees and such. :)

Here is a little guy I did up from the basket!! Isn't he the sweetest thing!!!! He was a little scarf made from beautiful paper.

"Silly kitty...not the right day for your umbrella"
6" x 6"

This is a painting I did while at my moms in Newfoundland.
It is a ship which has gotten stuck in the Arctic Sea Ice. The men aboard are wondering what they are in store for.

Little Pink Umbrella 16" x 16" I've acquired two new pets. One I adopted at the farmers market and one I found gallivanting around my living room. They are both so beautiful that I thought I would capture them on camera.

This first one is Herbert...I am not sure what he is, but he enjoys munching on smaller insects, getting small fuzzies attached to his legs and long walks on the beach.

This one is Emilia, she is 4" tall and a beautiful shade of green...she loves basking in the sunlight, and drinking plenty of water to stay healthy...sometimes she may even participate in a little yoga.
