I would like to invite people to check out www.catartblog.com
It is a really nice website for those who love cats, create cat art and well....pretty much anyone with feline love in their hearts. :)
One of my pieces is being displayed on the blog, which is very exciting! Check it out!
Cheers! Hilary

This is a painting I had worked on a year ago...and just picked it back up and finished it today. It is supposed to represent the earth on the back of a turtle. The story behind it comes from an old native tale depicting how the earth was formed. I used acrylic paint and also silver and gold ink pens. If you look closely at the sky you can see outlines of animals. I have done 4 others like this in the past and sold them right away. They are a lot of fun to paint and always bring a smile to peoples faces.

So while I am waiting to purchase new canvases, I am trying to be creative with my camera...lately I have taken pictures of the lazy Spots...and I have yet to find Malachi doing something outlandish. He is quite conservative and tends to just want to be outside where he can hunt mice, shrews and other little creatures. This picture was taken from my last apartment where Malachi had gotten a hold of my...well lets just call it...nightly wear....and I chased him around the house to try and pry it from his grasp...spots was a little in on it as well, however Malachi would hiss and spit at him as if he had caught a mouse or something....I could not believe how possessive he was of it! So I stopped chasing him and had to take a photo. Here he is hissing as Spots, making sure he is the sole owner of the...ahem...nightly wear.

Ok....seriously this is my cat for you...after he is done tearing my plants apart and getting into the garbage...he very nicely pushes the couch cushions down a little so he can have his own couch hammock...and there he will sit, sleep, or clean himself for the rest of the day...or until I move him and the cushion. I love him to death, but he is starting to think he owns the joint! Well...not that he didn't think that before. Also I have found him clung to either the inside of my wooden front door...or the outside screen door, either wanting in or out. I still have to get pictures of that one :) You really have to click on them to get the full effect of what this cat thinks of himself! haha!

I have done a Christmas craft show now for two years up in Barrie Ont. The people there are so sweet, and I love all the different crafts. Two years ago there was a booth there with these amazing little fairies, they were there this year as well. Just adorable! Mine sits in my kitchen window...I think though that I need to build up a fairie family, and get one for every room! They are the sweetest things!

Amazing Nutritous Pancakes!

I made some pancake mix yesterday for the kids and was thinking how great this mix was!...Healthy....at least healthier than mix from a box...this recipe comes from Peho...my partners mother.

Peho Pancakes

1/2 cup yogurt (plain)
2 small eggs
1tsp melted butter
Pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar
3/4 cup spelt flour
1/2 tsp B.S. and 1/2 tsp B.P.
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup chopped up oats.

Mix all together! Takes a minute longer in the pan, but worth the wait!!

Enjoy!!

Well the weekend has come to an end...the weather was a little bit against us...but also beautiful and very festive. I sold a few paintings which was very nice and made a few friends in the process. These shows are great! No matter what you end up selling...or not selling...there are so many opportunities for networking and creating new relationships. I strongly recommend an art show for any new artist. Look for things in your area....or not in your area... :) Check out venues like Art in the Park and Christmas Craft Shows.
This is my display booth

This was the weather on the second day.
Beautiful...but not great to go out and drive in.

Twas the night before craft show

So.....the night before going to Barrie for the Christmas craft show and I feel a bit like Martha Stewart on steroids! I have about 50 little button/ornaments to finish up and I still need to glaze my paintings! ahhh!! I of course freak out every time I have a show...only to find out everything turns out fine....as long as I don't get half way to Barrie and realize I forgot my art! Love to my family and friends who have been so supportive with my art! Wish me luck!
Here are some crazy pics from my studio/dining room.

Ok...so I picked up these little tiny canvases....which are the cutest little things!! Here they are in a lovely little basket...I have put eye hooks into the wood on top so they are easily hang-able...for christmas trees and such. :)

Here is a little guy I did up from the basket!! Isn't he the sweetest thing!!!! He was a little scarf made from beautiful paper.

"Silly kitty...not the right day for your umbrella"
6" x 6"
SOLD

This is a painting I did while at my moms in Newfoundland.
It is a ship which has gotten stuck in the Arctic Sea Ice. The men aboard are wondering what they are in store for.

Little Pink Umbrella 16" x 16"

So...today I've acquired two new pets. One I adopted at the farmers market and one I found gallivanting around my living room. They are both so beautiful that I thought I would capture them on camera.

This first one is Herbert...I am not sure what he is, but he enjoys munching on smaller insects, getting small fuzzies attached to his legs and long walks on the beach.

This one is Emilia, she is 4" tall and a beautiful shade of green...she loves basking in the sunlight, and drinking plenty of water to stay healthy...sometimes she may even participate in a little yoga.
